EAF Executive Committee Meeting Agenda November 2008

Agenda for the meeting of the EAF Executive Committee to be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at 1:00 PM at the Home of Doree and Assefa Mehretu in Okemos, Michigan.  

1. Minutes of meetings of the Executive Committee held on September 13, 2008, 11:00 AM at the home of Wogayehu and Sisay Asefa in Kalamazoo .

2. Approval of the agenda.

3. Reports/announcements/comments from the Executive Committee: Teshome W., Sisay, Wongel, Asrat, Assefa

4. Items for decision arising from reports, etc.

5. EAF Issues

a. Regular EAF business (financial report etc.)

b. Board of Trustees meeting

(3) Alternative ideas within EAF Statutes (continue with old model, donate to the general AAU scholarship pool of funds, distribute annual grants to Ethiopian colleges on a rotation basis, “adopt a college” for a duration and send grants to the college (criteria for adoption?), etc.

(4) Alternative ideas that require Statutes revision (help high schools, adopt a school, rotating grants to schools, grants to worthy NGOs, etc.

6. Discussion on Ethiopian Higher Education:

a. Teshome Wagaw: The “First International Conference on Educational Research for Development” organized by College of Education , Addis Ababa University .

b. Sisay Asefa: The next International Conference on Ethiopian Development Studies in Addis Ababa

c. Decisions arising from the above.

7. Projects on Ethiopian Higher Education

a. Formation of a Michigan Group for AAU (workshop meeting)

b. Position paper on higher education from EAF (see attached document)

c. Document on potential areas of cooperation (see attached document)
